Alan J. Fletcher
Fletcher has been in the flooring business for over 30-years and
has amassed extensive knowledge about the flooring business. Alan is a third generation flooring
professional with unique knowledge and insight about the flooring industry that
By age eleven,
Alan was helping out in his fathers carpet showroom
organizing and categorizing the different styles of carpet and padding samples.
Working summers as a carpet layer's helper, and by age 18 it was natural to pursue a career in the flooring
business. He was apprenticed by three master craftsmen in
Milwaukie, Oregon, and was trained to install all types of vinyl flooring,
carpet, ceramic tile and hardwood floors. He attended Hardwood
Flooring School in 1978.
From 1982 through 2006, Alan
owned and operated a floor
covering contracting business and has experience working in seven states including
Oregon, Washington, Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee. His
knowledge and experience comes from the sales and installation of practically every
type of flooring in thousands of custom homes, apartments complexes and
residential, commercial and industrial applications.
Alan is the author of Landlord Floors-carpet and vinyl
management for rentals. The California Apartment Association has used
his books in their property management training classes. Alan also authored Landlord Flooring Management,
a comprehensive 220-page manual designed for professional
property managers, Real estate investors, and rental property owners who want to maximize their savings
on flooring replacement and repair costs.
